You know it

I was reading one of my friend's blog just now and he comments something like you will know it when you belongs. Somehow or rather, this just striked a chord in me. I can still remember around 1 year minus 21 days, I met the current group of people whom I now hang out with quite often, the group of people who eventually become part of my life, who become my spiritual family. Somehow or rather, when I met them initially, I felt a sense of attachment, though the sense wasn't that strong at that time, but I felt comfortable being with them. It's those kind of moment when you felt a sense of possibility that you might be clicking into the group. Ever since I received Christ, I had gradually came to realise that it's all within God's planning. The most amazing thing is really that you will know it and realise it after everything. Such is the mystery of God's planning.....

Of Teaching and Learning

Over the past two weeks, I was invited to attend a block class on "Learning to Teach." After two weeks of class, here are some reflections that I have. We thank God Bro Casey is a pretty humane teacher... :P  Firstly, teaching needs to meet the changing challenges of the 21st century. This is especially pertinent with all the advancements in technology as well as the worldview changes with the generation today. There is simply no room for the teacher to remain stagnant and not be able to keep up with times so as to engage their students and to facilitate learning. Applying to theological education and Bible school, we have to consider what kind of ministers we are training for the churches in the 21st century. If we are training ministers who are able to engage today’s generation, then we need to review the current methods of teaching and train ministers to be savvy in social media and technology and be able to make use of them in their ministries. Iakobou Epistode: From Confusion to Clarity

Recently I was taking another course on the book of James. Similar to Romans, this is also a book that I have co-taught in church and studied in Eagles Rendezvous. Revisiting this book again yielded three reflection points. 1. The disciple's identification  The epistle by James is an interesting book within the New Testament to study. In my own NT study, I have also been fascinated by how economical the NT authors when it comes to their words - that they do not waste words in their letters. This manifests itself right from the beginning when the NT authors introduce themselves. Many of us will sometimes skip over the introduction, but we can learn a lot about the epistle itself as well as its application to our Christian life through the introduction. In James, for example, James introduced himself as a slave of God and the Lord Jesus Christ (James 1:1).
