Dead turtle

I have been seeing a lot of turtles in my msn, as compared to stars these days. From what I know, it's all because of the death of the austrialian Croc Dundee who got pierced in the heart by a stingray (I thought it was a croc). This got me wondering about something, what is it so great about this Steve Irwin that people wanna put turtles in their msn to commemorate him? I mean, he's just a Croc Dundee who appears in television playing around with dangerous animals. No doubt his shows are nice but do we need to go to such extent? So what happens if the person who lives next to you died? Are people going to put turtles there in their msn as a form of remembrance?Remembrance for what? I find it so stupid. Maybe I should try this one day, if someone around me died, I will get people to start doing that and see the effect. Most likely it will not work. Why? Because maybe that guy is not famous. There is no big news. It's not a Huang Na incident, nor a Steve Irwin. It's just the guy next door.

Precisely it's so stupid, I'll refuse to put up the turtle in my msn. It's stupid, pointless, and remember what?

Of Teaching and Learning

Over the past two weeks, I was invited to attend a block class on "Learning to Teach." After two weeks of class, here are some reflections that I have. We thank God Bro Casey is a pretty humane teacher... :P  Firstly, teaching needs to meet the changing challenges of the 21st century. This is especially pertinent with all the advancements in technology as well as the worldview changes with the generation today. There is simply no room for the teacher to remain stagnant and not be able to keep up with times so as to engage their students and to facilitate learning. Applying to theological education and Bible school, we have to consider what kind of ministers we are training for the churches in the 21st century. If we are training ministers who are able to engage today’s generation, then we need to review the current methods of teaching and train ministers to be savvy in social media and technology and be able to make use of them in their ministries. Iakobou Epistode: From Confusion to Clarity

Recently I was taking another course on the book of James. Similar to Romans, this is also a book that I have co-taught in church and studied in Eagles Rendezvous. Revisiting this book again yielded three reflection points. 1. The disciple's identification  The epistle by James is an interesting book within the New Testament to study. In my own NT study, I have also been fascinated by how economical the NT authors when it comes to their words - that they do not waste words in their letters. This manifests itself right from the beginning when the NT authors introduce themselves. Many of us will sometimes skip over the introduction, but we can learn a lot about the epistle itself as well as its application to our Christian life through the introduction. In James, for example, James introduced himself as a slave of God and the Lord Jesus Christ (James 1:1).
