QT Words

I was reading the book of Job just now, and read some very heart touching verses which spoke to me quite a lot:

"Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied. "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."

The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger."
Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD
- Job 1:9-12

"Skin for skin!" Satan replied. "A man will give all he has for his own life. But stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face."

The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life."
- Job 2:4-6

God allows Satan to come and tempt us, but He will never allow Satan to touch us. How great is the love of God on us!

"Naked I came from my mother's womb,
and naked I will depart.
The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away;
may the name of the LORD be praised."
- Job 1:20

Surely the verse of the day for me. We came with nothing, and we will leave with nothing. In other words, at the end of the day, when we die, what we possess physically will not 'die' with us. But what we have done may have a significance in the world we leave behind. So in short, it became sort of meaningless if we pursue material wealth all the way and lament over material loss.

He replied, "You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?"
In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.
- Job 2:10

It sums up an aspect of our walk with God. God did not promise a bed of roses when we walked in His way. Certainly Job is a good example. But who is qualified enough to question the ways of God, whom we know has every intention to test us and lead us to where He knows would be the best for us to be. He would later on in the book of Job rebuked Job's complaint: 'Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand.' in Job 38:4. A question alone from the God Almighty, enough to humble any heart of contempt. It's basically a question which puts it bluntly, 'who are you to tell me what to do', except in a more convincing manner than most people.

An insightful insight.
