What you need to live

Physically, a human being only needs two thing in order to stay alive: water and air. One thing that will allow us to survive, however, is knowledge. This is something I said in a post dated 25/08/2005.

I used to quote from William Wallace a lot, and I think I quoted him once a year ago too. The speech that touches me so much, that every man will die, not every man ever lives.

Physically, a human being only needs two thing in order to stay alive: water and air. One thing that will allow us to survive, however, is knowledge. But you need more than that to live.

In order for a man to live, he needs more than water, he needs more than air. He needs more than knowledge. Let's face it, with just water and air, how much can you live? With just knowledge, you sure you are going to live?

What a man needs, in order to live, is Jesus.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

A moment please... this time with God

I was reading my own blog post on 15/07/2005, a post I have written about 2 years ago. How fast time flies... I said this as it reminds me of our 'superman'.

A moment please, I said in that post. I can't really remember to whom I was saying that to. Maybe it was to my readers, maybe it was to God, as if I knew Him then. A moment please, I was saying, and I forgot why I actually said that. Certainly I asked for a moment, just a moment, in the midst of all these busyness, to reflect and to think. Perhaps, then I was a bit overwhelmed by the changes around me, that I need to sit down and think. Oh well.

A moment please, this time, I ask again.

This time, let it be a rendevous with God...

Snow Black

Once upon a time, there was a girl. Her name was Snow Black. She was neither beautiful nor attractive. Her mother died when she was a very young child. As a result of that, her father decided to marry another woman and she became the step mother of the child Snow Black.
The step mother of Snow Black was a vicious and wicked woman. Despite the fact that the child was not born to be beautiful, or attractive, she was jealous of the father's occasional attention to the young lady of 16 years old. Yet, Snow Black was never hateful towards her step mother. No matter how cruelly her step mother treated her, Snow Black was always ready to repay her step mother back with love.

One day, while Snow Black was out on a trip to the forest to save little rabbits from being preyed by cruel hunters, her stepmother bribed the bodyguard of Snow Black to kill the young lady in the forest.

The bodyguard needed the money the queen gave to him to take care of his elderly parents, who were suffering from se…

The Jesus I have long forgotten

It is very oxymoronic of me to talk about the Jesus I have long forgotten. After all, strictly speaking, haven't I been enjoying a relationship with God through Jesus Christ? Ain't I a Christ follower? Dun I proclaim His name whenever I share His gospels with my friends?

Allow me to use an analogy. Have you ever known someone, and the reason why you two can click is cos of some reasons (which I dun know what). Has the relationship, after some time, reached a point where you will take the other person for granted, and start to ignore what you have known the person to be? Suddenly, certain aspects of the other person becomes of interest to you, but that's not the point, to him at least. He just wants you to know him more and more, while continuing to know him as the way he is when you two meet each other.

I was listening to this song 'Ocean will part and there was this part when the singers sing:

As You open my eyes to the work of Your hands,
Jesus, open my eyes to the wor…

New skin

This is a new skin that I have found over the web. Credits to this guy called profire88. It's so well done that I have no need to do much editing to the skin. I hope that you all can get used to it.

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace
John Newton

Verse 1:
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind but now I see

Verse 2:
T'was grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Verse 3:
Through many dangers, toil and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

Verse 4:
When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun

Verse 5:
Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail
And mortal life shall cease
I shall possess, within the veil
A life of joy and peace

Verse 6:
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, who call'd me here below
Will be forever mine

This is the original hymn that John Newton has written several centuries ago.

Suffering

I was inspired by the car ride just now to write this post. Seems like it will take some conversations to remove the writing block in me.

There was this story (I dun know the exact details) that someone mentioned that dun talk to him about the suffering of Jesus on the cross when he has seen the Holocaust, that somehow, people seem to think that Jesus suffered more on the cross than the Jews during the Holocaust.

I dun want to say whether this person in the story is wrong or not, but apparently, I would say that it is not that accurate to say that the Jews have suffered more in the Holocaust. No doubt, the Holocaust is a monstrous atrocity in the history of Mankind, a tragedy that cannot be forgotten or wiped off the tears of the Jews who have suffered in the tyranny of Hitler. However, how about Jesus? What does He compare when it comes to the Holocaust?

Firstly, I would state that I believe that Jesus suffered no less than the rest of Israel, whether in the Holocaust, whether in any …

Moses' Challenge

During the Soul Survivor Camp 2007, we had an activity called the Moses' Challenge, which spanned a whole night, walking round and round Pasir Ris Park, till 5am, when the people finally reached the 'Promised Land'.

As part of the committee who planned the program, and after the evaluation meeting this sunday afternoon, I would like to make clear to the participants a few things, which I think the participants have the right to know.

1. The objectives
The idea of the activity is taken from the verse: Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

Hence, the activity is not meant for the participants to enjoy, although if they enjoy, it's a plus and bonus for them. The objective of the planning committee is to frustrate, irritate, confuse, tire the participants, make them aimless, make them angry. As such, such sentiments …
