Exam room - the power of prayer

As always, every semester, without fail, we will camp at the engine classroom to study for our exam. But what we didn't anticipate this semester is that the security guard uncle whom I know has left and there is a change in security guard. Similarly, there is a change in policy from the engine fac to insist the security to lock up every classroom after 12 midnight. The new security guard is a nice person, as in he did not come to disturb us on Sunday and Monday. However, because he kena complained, he has to come and lock the classroom from Tuesday onwards. We were, indeed, locked out of the classrooms on Tuesday night and I had a bad night sleep on the table outside. Ever since we checked into the classroom, we have maintained the policy of praying every night. The reasons are fewfold: first, as Christians, we need to seek the presence of God day in day out, and it's a good practice to seek Him through prayer; second, drawing lessons from last semester, we seriously dun want a

Silent night - exam silence

I was listening to the Christmas carol, Silent Night. I made a search for it, and found out that the origin of the Christmas carol we know as Silent Night was a poem that was written in 1816 by an Austrian priest called Joseph Mohr. On Christmas Eve in 1818 in the small alpine village called Oberndorf it is reputed that the organ at St. Nicholas Church had broken. Joseph Mohr gave the poem of Silent Night (Stille Nacht) to his friend Franz Xavier Gruber and the melody for Silent Night was composed with this in mind. The music to Silent Night was therefore intended for a guitar and the simple score was finished in time for Midnight Mass. The lyric of the song goes as such: Silent night, holy night All is calm, all is bright Round yon Virgin Mother and Child Holy Infant so tender and mild Sleep in heavenly peace Sleep in heavenly peace Silent night, holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight Glories stream from heaven afar Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia! Christ, the Saviour is born Christ, t

Stay hungry, stay foolish

Stay hungry, stay foolish. This is exactly what Steve Jobs said to the graduates during the Stanford commencement ceremony. I was thinking, how relevant is it for Christ believers to stay hungry and stay foolish. He who is full loathes honey, but to the hungry even what is bitter tastes sweet. - Proverbs 27:7 God wants us to stay hungry for His Words. He wants us to continually taste Him and know that He is good. For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate." Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. - 1 Corinthians 1:19-21 And God wants us to stay 'foolish' in Him. It does not go to say that we must be fool, but it goes to say that
