1 John 4:19 - We love because He first loved us.

1 Peter 4:8 - Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.

John 13:34 - "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

Jesus' central mission on Earth was to die on the cross for our sins. He has another mission, that was to disciple his followers during His ministry years to get them ready for the inception of the church. Some of the main teachings He left with His disciples include the concept of the Holy Spirit after His departure, the importance of the Word in our lives, the need to repent as the Kingdom of heaven is near. One important lesson He had to teach His disciples was love, to love one another. This was not a foreign concept to His disciples. A quick search in biblegateway on the word will yield 600++ results, with 439 of the verses belonging to the OT. But it was an important concept for Him to drill into the minds of the disciples because of one thing - their different backgrounds which provided a high volatility in the relationship.

Think about it, among the twelve jokers, one has an impulsive nature, two were called sons of thunders, probably for their reputation of bad tempered and that's excluding their desire for more honorable positions. We have an ex-tax collector and a zealot... not a very good combination. They even quarrelled who will be the greatest in the Kingdom of God. And you expect these twelve jokers to become the backbone by which God will build His church upon.

And His answer was love.

And they understood it well.

Together with the Holy Spirit, the disciples went on to change the world, by spreading the gospel. Central to this good news is the grace of God to forgive our sin, shown by His love to us thru Jesus Christ. As a result of this, lives have been transformed. People find meaning in their lives.

Indeed, if love is one component of meaning to life, then it is important for us to share it with the people around us. And we can love because God first loves us. This is a profound statement. Yet, God first loves us, as He first loves the people who crucified Him. He even taught us to love our enemies, and to pray for those who persecute us.

There are of course different facets of love, but it's not what I want to talk about here. The world will be different with God's love being revealed through His vessels - us.

This principle becomes ever more important in our respective cgs. In Hope, esp in our Uni-YA YG group, we change cg quite regularly. We need to learn to accept the differences in everybody and we need to continue to love even people are tough to love. Sustainable transformation can only be achieved by love, not by coercion. Jokers can indeed become disciples.

Ok, time to go back to work.
